Who Is ORN Gateway?

ORN Gateway is a Hyderabad-based EdTech company focused exclusively on UPSC Civil Services Mains examination preparation. Their core offering is a structured answer-writing evaluation platform — aspirants upload handwritten answer copies, expert faculty evaluate them against model solutions, and detailed feedback with scores is returned within 48 hours. The platform covers all four General Studies papers, the Essay paper, and optional subjects, with programmes designed for both first-time Mains aspirants and experienced candidates.

The Challenge

A Manual Workflow Breaking Under Scale

1. Email-based submission chaos

Aspirants submitted handwritten copies via email — different formats, no naming convention, attachments lost in inboxes. Evaluators received copies through WhatsApp forwards, with no central record of who submitted what, when, or which evaluator held which copy. At scale, the approach was collapsing.

2. No tracking or transparency

Once a copy was uploaded, aspirants had no visibility into its status — submitted, assigned, under evaluation, or lost. Every day brought a stream of 'what is the status of my copy?' messages, eroding trust and creating heavy customer-support overhead.

3. Evaluation consistency was impossible

With 40+ evaluators working independently — some via email, some via WhatsApp — there was no standardised rubric, no consistent feedback format, and no way to ensure one evaluator's 120/250 meant the same as another's. Aspirants noticed the inconsistency.

4. No performance analytics

Aspirants had no way to track progress — no score trends, no subject-wise breakdown, no percentile context. They practised in the dark. The academy had no aggregated data to identify common weaknesses or measure programme effectiveness.

5. Scaling was hitting a ceiling

Aspirant dashboard

A clean interface where aspirants see every test — open, closed, submitted, under evaluation, result ready — at a glance. Against any open test they upload their question paper and answer copy as PDFs or images (up to 20 MB, multi-page). Re-submission is allowed before the deadline, and status tracking is real-time.

Evaluator workflow

Faculty log in, see their assigned copies, evaluate against a structured rubric tied to the model solution, annotate the copy, write structured feedback, and assign a score. The system enforces the 48-hour turnaround and flags overdue evaluations — every evaluator works within a consistent framework.

Admin control panel

The academy admin manages the whole operation: scheduling tests across all GS papers and Essay, assigning evaluators, configuring cohorts, managing optional-subject series, and monitoring completion rates. Test scheduling supports multiple programmes running simultaneously (Freshers, Veterans, Mains Only, Mains + Prelims).

Email & WhatsApp notifications

Automated alerts at every stage — test scheduled, test open, copy submitted, evaluation complete, result ready — sent to both email and WhatsApp, the primary channel for UPSC aspirants. No copy is ever lost, and no aspirant is left guessing.

Performance analytics

Score-trajectory charts, subject-wise breakdowns, percentile context within the cohort, and test-over-test trend analysis. Aspirants see whether their writing is improving and where to focus; the academy sees aggregate patterns and programme effectiveness.

Model solutions & topper copies

After evaluation, aspirants access the model solution, Question-Cum-Answer (QCA) format, and topper answer copies for each test — a clear benchmark for what a high-scoring answer looks like, closing the feedback loop.
